10 Years of Blackstone River Valley NHP: Open House
On December 19, 2014, Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park was established as the 402nd unit of the National Park Service.
On Friday, December 13, the Park will host an evening open house at Old Slater Mill in Pawtucket, RI to celebrate the Park’s 10th birthday. This program will run from 6:30 PM – 8 PM.
In addition to free mill tours, visitors will see a “historically crafted” chocolate making demonstration led by Robert Lecce of Pewter Pot Fine Spiced Chocolate.
All are encouraged to explore the Park’s latest temporary exhibit, “Laboring for Freedom.”
PROGRAM SCHEDULE
6:30: Open House Begins
6:45: Brief celebration ceremony, including video of remarks from Sen. Jack Reed and an opportunity to sign the Park’s birthday card.
7:00 – 8:00: Chocolate making demonstration, open house of Slater Mill exhibit.
Free and open to all (no reservations are required).
In January 2024, the “Laboring for Freedom” exhibit will move to the Cumberland Public Library for display in the Hayden Gallery.
