Community Quilting Bee
The Museum of Work and Culture is hosting a Community Quilting Bee on Friday, February 16, and Saturday, February 17, from 10 am to 4 pm, in anticipation of its upcoming Welcome Blanket exhibit, opening in September 2024!
The Community Quilting Bee will be held in collaboration with the Blackstone Valley Piecemakers Quilting Guild, who will showcase the various aspects of quilt making from conception to completion. Visitors will explore different stands demonstrating these aspects, including designing, sandwiching, and binding. Guests will even have the chance to help hand stitch and tie together a community quilt, which will be displayed as part of the Museum’s Welcome Blanket exhibit, which will display community members’ gifts of handmade blankets that will then be given to refugee families. Quilting Bee participants will each go home with a handmade quilted coaster made by the Piecemakers.
You do not need to register for this free event. This event is made possible with the support of the Blackstone Valley Piecemakers Quilting Guild.
