Lippitt After Dark
Step back in time to a February evening in 1875 with Lippitt House Museum’s “Lippitt After Dark” program on Wednesday, February 26th and Thursday, February 27th. Experience the beautifully preserved interiors of Lippitt House as if family members and the servants who worked in the house have just departed each room.
“In 1875, Henry Lippitt was a prosperous businessman with an eye for politics, and his wife Mary Ann was laying the foundation to open Rhode Island’s first school for the Deaf,” says Curator of Education Cathy Saunders. “It’s fun to imagine what the family discussions were and the work that the live-in servants had to do each day to keep this house running.” On this twilight tour, guests will have a peek into the daily life of a Victorian household as Museum staff share stories about the dinner menu, the local theater scene, topics of the day, and the chores that were done each night.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for Students, and $5 for SNAP/EBT Cardholders and available at LippittHouse.org. Tours are an hour in length and begin at 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM. Space is limited, advance online purchase is highly recommended.
