“Ride of Discovery” Woonasquatucket Greenway
August 21 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Join volunteers of the Blackstone Bikeway Ambassadors on their weekly “Ride of Discovery.” We will be joined by staff of the Woonasquatucket River Watershed Council as our ride leader. This week we will ride and explore the Woonasquatucket River Greenway Project, a catalyst for renewal along the Woonasquatucket River in Providence. The green linear park revitalizes the major hidden natural resource on the West Side of the City and is a destination for neighborhood residents and people throughout Providence and Rhode Island. A bicycle/pedestrian path links recreational areas, green spaces, destination sites, and the neighborhoods of Manton, Hartford, Olneyville, Valley, and Smith Hill to each other and Waterplace Park in downtown Providence.
Difficulty: Easy, paved greenway. This ride is suitable for all riders.
Ride length and Location: 5 miles round trip along the Woonasquatucket River from Olneyville section of Providence to Johnston, RI.
Ride Group Departs promptly at 6:30 p.m. and returns at 8:00 p.m.
Bike helmets are required for safety!
Ride will be cancelled if raining at start time. Please check BHC Facebook page for up to date information on ride status.
