Something Old, Something New: 150 Years of Wedding Fashions & Traditions

Join us for this final weekend showing of 150 years of wedding fashions and traditions in the historical setting of the Hearthside House Museum.  Two floors of displays that showcase the changes in how the celebrations of marriage changed with each decade, from fashions to honeymoons to receptions and photography.  Gowns worn by different generations in the same family and their stories are also featured.  Vignettes shown in each room, complete with displays of spring flowers.  Learn about early traditions surrounding weddings, many of which are still practiced today, along with superstitions from the Victorian era that bring good luck and bad luck to the couple. Docents dressed in period attire host the event, which is a self-guided tour through this extensive exhibit.

Staggered admissions to avoid crowding.  Reserve in advance through website and payment in cash at the door.  Last admission at 3 pm.
