May 15 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

One event on May 21, 2019 at 6:00 pm

In celebration of Storm Drain Awareness Month, join us for a family-friendly workshop to learn more about storm drains and stormwater, and how we all can help improve water quality in our watershed by preventing toxins and other pollutants from entering our rivers, streams and other water bodies.  Marcia Grenier, volunteer with BHC’s Volunteers-In-Parks program, will make a presentation using the Enviroscape to talk about stormwater runoff. In addition, a representative from the Worcester Department of Public Works will come to talk about how storm drains function and how you can help prevent pollution of our waterways.  There are two sessions being offered: an after-school workshop at 4:00 p.m., and an after-work program at 6:00 p.m. Children will receive a “Dwayne the Storm Drain” activity book compliments of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority.  For more information and to RSVP, contact Bonnie Combs at 508-234-4242 or email bcombs@BlackstoneHeritageCorridor.org.
