The Family Letters of Abby Kelley and Stephen Foster
This performance of selected personal letters of Massachusetts’ own noted abolitionists Abby Kelley Foster and Stephen Foster provides a window into the lives of great, devoted, and inspirational people. Both were radical abolitionists who traveled extensively around the country lecturing on the evils of slavery and prejudice while encouraging their audiences to rise up and take a stand against it. While they were traveling, either together or separately, the letters were the glue that held the small family together. The letters reflect their deep desire to make the world a more just and better place for all human beings while covering the minute details of a loving family’s daily life.
Join Lynne McKenney Lydick and Thomas R. Lydick as they share the private letters of this very public Worcester couple.
