The Joy & Wonder of Miniatures
Something really big is happening at Hearthside… and it’s small! Join us for the grand opening of our newest exhibit, “The Joy & Wonder of Miniatures,” on Saturday, June 15. This unique exhibit features a wide variety of miniatures and models that will captivate visitors of all ages.
**Highlights Include:**
– Miniature Civil War camp diorama inside the museum
– Full-size Civil War camp setup outdoors with artifacts, muskets, swords, and period musical instruments
– Food truck offering Rhode Island’s favorite hot weiners
– Over a hundred miniature items, including cars, trains, planes, toy soldiers, dollhouses, antique carriages, porcelains, and much more –

The smallest items are less than an inch, and the largest is a 4-foot working model of the 264-foot Ferris Wheel from the 1904 World’s Fair **Special Outdoor Events:**

– August 25: Artisan vendors and Mini Psychic Fair with 8 psychics offering readings
– September 8: “Love in Metal: The Art of Abraham Megerdichian” presentation

Throughout the summer, enjoy hands-on activities like making a miniature book and searching for the fairy house on the grounds. Each exhibit opening will feature a raffle with a grand prize drawn on September 21st at the annual Great Road Day. The exhibit runs until September 8th, with additional openings throughout the summer. Hosted by the Friends of Hearthside, this event supports the preservation and programming of the Great Road Heritage Campus.
Admission to the exhibit is $12; $8 youth age 10-17; age 9 and under free. Advance registration is not required.
