This is the last hike in the winter series, Winter Hiking Series Heritage Trail Hike. This longer 7 mile round trip hike will range from easy – difficult along a wide range of terrain from gravel path, field, and hilly forest trails. Due to the hike length and possible wintry conditions, the hike is strenuous, please be prepared for 4 hours of winter hiking. We will start at, and return to, the River Bend Farm Visitor Center, where we will wrap up the season’s hikes with hot chocolate and conversation.
This series of three winter hikes is an introduction for hikers to get comfortable enjoying the trails year-round. Winter hiking offers a unique chance to take in some interesting views that are hidden by foliage during other seasons and is a great way to beat the winter blues! Each guided hike will begin with a short safety message. Be prepared for cold weather, dress in layers and avoid cotton clothing. Appropriate footwear is required, consider bringing hiking poles and ice cleats. If conditions permit, bring snowshoes and hiking poles. Carry drinking water and a snack. All ages able to complete the 3 or 7 mile hike during colder weather welcome. We will hike unless weather creates unsafe conditions.
