WorcesterontheMoon

Bring your kids to our new visitor center in Worcester for hands-on, space-themed activities in celebration of “Worcester on the Moon.”  This family-friendly event celebrates the 50th anniversary of the historic moon landing and Worcester’s Robert Goddard, who as a young man pruning his parent’s cherry tree, envisioned a rocket that would shoot to Mars.
Today, Goddard is credited with inventing the liquid-fueled rocket. He constructed and successfully tested the first rocket using liquid fuel on March 16, 1926 in his aunt’s field in Auburn, MA.

This is a drop-in event, so join us anytime between 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.  Make a moon phase calendar, take part in a lunar landing activity, build straw rockets, and more!  Pretend you’re going to the moon and take a keepsake photo in our rocket cutout! Post your pictures with the hashtag #worcesteronthemoon.

Blackstone Heritage Corridor invites you to keep those inquisitive gears moving all year long on its web-based GearHeads activity page.
