Canal Walk Series

In this Canal Walk Series (1-5), enjoy a guided walk to explore different sections of the Blackstone River & Canal Heritage State Park. Learn the canal's historical and cultural significance and its role in the farm-to-factory transformation of the Blackstone River Valley.  This is part of the 2019 GO! program. Approximately 2 miles.All ages welcome.

Geocaching 101

Come to the Visitor Center for Geocaching 101, an introduction to Geocaching. This is a real-world, outdoor treasure-hunting game using GPS-enabled devices.  Participants will learn to navigate a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find geocache (container) hidden at that location. This is a fun, family friendly activity that addsa new layer to outdoor exploration.

Discover our glacial past with a moderately challenging 1-mile round-trip geology hike to Little Purgatory.  Explore evidence of the ice that blanketed this park more than 10,000 years ago! Suitable for glacial geologists ages 10 and above.  Begins inside the Visitor Center. Enjoy this event again on September 11 and 18. Join Blackstone Heritage Corridor Trail Ambassador and Metacomet Land Trust board member Tom Bik on a guided, one-mile hike in the woods along the Blackstone River.
