This hike covers several properties including Steere Hill Farm, Phillips Farm, and Heritage Park. We will visit the Shepards Hut and climb the top of the hill which offers a vista among wildflowers. This will be a hike around Turner Reservoir and the abutting Bridgham Farm. All ages are welcome. Please be comfortable walking/hiking a little under 3 miles on both trails and asphalt surfaces. Bug spray and sunscreen are suggested, along with plenty of water if it is a hot day. There are no restrooms. Leashed dogs welcome. These two adjoining properties offer quite a bit for a short walk. We will go by the community gardens, around the fields, visit the Woonasquatucket River, and see some ledges. The hike is short, probably about a mile and a half total but does have some hills. Forget about Black Friday and walk off some of that turkey at the Cumberland Monastery on Friday, November 27 for a fairly easy, two to three mile hike. This site, a former Cistercian monastery, now owned by the town of Cumberland, is home to the oldest war Veterans memorial in the United States. The memorial, Nine Men’s Misery, lies toward the beginning of the trek, which will lead to the Monk’s Quarry Trail. From there we will do a loop…
