About the Blackstone Heritage Corridor
The Blackstone Heritage Corridor collaborates with community partners, provides strong leadership to preserve, promote, and celebrate the Valley’s historic, natural, and recreational resources for current and future generations.
Blackstone Heritage Corridor is a dynamic and successful nonprofit 501 (c)(3) corporation. It is the successor of the former federal commission and the management entity for the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor.
- We are committed to the long term vitality of the region;
- We are committed to partner with municipalities, nonprofits, businesses, and residents to restore, retain and reinvigorate the Valley;
- We coordinate enthusiastic volunteers to work on behalf of Blackstone Heritage Corridor and its partners;
- We facilitate a variety of programs and events to connect people to the National Heritage Corridor and its nationally-significant resources.
Four decades ago, Congress recognized the national significance of our history, culture, and natural resources by creating a designated greenspace later named as the John H. Chafee Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor in honor of the late Senator's passionate advocacy of support for the corridor. Today, we are the Blackstone Heritage Corridor, and are entrusted with preserving and promoting this national legacy.
Blackstone Heritage Corridor works closely with the new Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park and provides services throughout the 25 towns of the National Heritage Corridor to complement the work of the Park:
Economic Development & Tourism
Resource Conservation
Community Planning & Revitalization
