Benefit Street: Mile of History Tour

After popular demand, a Benefit Street walking tour is returning! In partnership with the Rhode Island Historical Society, Providence Tour Company is presenting: “Benefit Street: Mile of History Tour.”
Created in the mid 18th-century, this colonial thoroughfare offers an enviable collection of 18th and early 19th century wood-frame houses. Although the street might seem like a museum mile, it is actually a vital urban neighborhood enhanced by ongoing preservation efforts since the 1950s. Discover iconic Providence landmarks such as the Providence Athenaeum, John Brown House Museum, Providence Art Club, as well as more recent additions such as the Mary Elizabeth Sharpe Park. The tour will discuss the architecture, industry, and life of Providence and how it has grown and changed over the last 380 years.
This tour will be offered on the first Friday of the month from May through October of 2024. Admission for the 1.5 hour tour is $15 for RIHS members and $20 for non-members. Book now at https://www.pvdtourco.com/benefit-street-tour
