April 6 @ 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Elder Ballou Cemetery Cleanup
The Blackstone River Watershed Council/Friends of the Blackstone will be hosting a TWO DAY Clean-up of the Elder Ballou Meeting House Cemetery located at Elder Ballou Meeting House Road Cumberland, RI. The FIRST DAY is Saturday April 6 from 1-5 PM. The SECOND DAY is Sunday April 7 from 9-1 PM.
General weed and grass trimming, raking and brush and trash removal is needed. The BRWC/FOB has maintained this cemetery in the past for at least 12 years. But unfortunately no other group has committed to a regular maintenance schedule. Many volunteers are needed. Parking in this area is very limited, so carpooling to the site is encouraged. Additional parking arrangements will be looked at.
Gloves and bags and some tools will be supplied. Volunteers may bring their own tools if they wish. Please wear sturdy shoes and long pants, use of bug spray is suggested. Water will be supplied.
This event is being held in coordination with the RI Historical Cemeteries Awareness and Preservation Weeks 2024. https://preservation.ri.gov/ricw.
