Jane’s Walk: An Elmwood Stroll

Explore Providence neighborhoods on foot with Jane’s Walk, a global walking festival on May 3-5, inspired by urban activist Jane Jacobs. These interactive walks are led by local residents and community activists who get people thinking, talking, and connecting with each other. Jane’s Walks are free and anyone can participate! Wear comfortable shoes, meet your walk leader in the designated meeting spot, and get ready for a lively discussion. Walks take place rain or shine.

An Elmwood Stroll  Take a stroll through northern Elmwood, beginning at Peace and Plenty Garden and ending at Knight Memorial Library where you will see what is believed to be the most complete Parthenon frieze east of the Mississippi! Discuss the Outdoor Gallery and Talking Tree project in the Peace and Plenty Garden, explore Elmwood’s historic district, and enjoy talking with community members about this special Providence neighborhood. Bring an umbrella which was in the tradition of the original Elmwood Strolls. Start/end points:  This walk will begin and end at the Peace and Plenty Community Garden, 91 Peace Street to Knight Memorial Library, 275 Elmwood Avenue. 275 Elmwood // RIPTA 20 or 22

We encourage all people to walk, bus, bike, scooter and carpool! Use the Transit app for specific details about your destination.
